In St. Petersburg they will represent the opera of Catherine the Great

The main event of the XVIII festival of ancient music of Earlymusic in St. Petersburg this fall will be the production of the comic opera “Woe-Bogatyr Kosmetovich”, written by Catherine II in the Commonwealth with the composer Martin-i-Soler.

The opera will be represented on October 4 at the Hermitage Theater, where it sounded for the first time 290 years ago, and October 5 and 8 in the chapel of St. Petersburg.

The opening of the Earlymusic festival will be held on September 20 in Gatchina. In the program of the concert of the Prime Minister of the Baroque Theater Danila Vedernikov - Russian baroque poetry of the XVII - XVIII centuries in authentic performance. The English songs of the same period will be performed by the counterthent Michael Chance (Great Britain). Also at the concert will be a baroque ballet of Anjolini under the leadership of Claus Abromight (Germany).

On September 21, in the chapel of St. Petersburg with the Codex Faenca program will be performed by the Italian ensemble Mala Punica under the leadership of Pedro Memelsorf. On September 24, in the Sheremetevsky Palace, an evening dedicated to the music of Mugam will take place, on October 1, a duet of performers on Viola da Gambi - Paolo Pandolfi and Amelie Sheman (Italy) will perform in Yaani Kirik.

On October 2, in the chapel with the Rococo program, the Austrian counteratenor Max Emmanuel Chenchich will perform, on October 6, a concert of Korean folklore music will be held at the Derzhavin Museum.

In addition, in the days of the festival, lectures and presentations of books dedicated to the Baroque culture will be held.
