Lukashevich appointed to the Permanent Representative of Russia at the OSCE

Vladimir Putin, by his decree, appointed Director of the Department of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Lukashevich by the constant representative of Russia at the OSCE. This was reported on the Kremlin website. By another decree, Putin removed from the post of previous Permanent Representative, Andrei Kelin.

Lukashevich is 56 years old. He graduated from MGIMO. In 1981-1994 he worked in Afghanistan. In 1996-2003, at the end of the improvement courses of leading dimensions at the diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Academy, he worked in the European direction. In 2003-2008 - adviser to the Russian embassy in Washington. In 2008-2010-Deputy Permanent Representative at the OSCE. Since 2011, he headed the Department of Information and, in this capacity, made statements as an official representative of the Foreign Ministry.

At the end of June, Kommersant wrote about the upcoming rearrangements in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was reported that Kelin, after resignation of the Permanent Representative, will head the Department of Ponantine Cooperation in the foreign policy department. Lukashevich’s place, according to the publication, should be occupied by his deputy Maria Zakharova.

In early July, RIA Novosti reported that Kelin confirmed his resignation. “I have worked out the period that is considered normal in our country is four years,” the official explained.
