Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that every person should visit Egypt at least once. He stated this in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, the translation of which was published on the Russian government website.
“Russians have sincere respect for the Egyptian people, they travel to your country with pleasure, they are interested in its culture and history. In general, I believe that every person is obliged to visit Egypt, the cradle of civilization, at least once, to see its ancient monuments with their own eyes,” the prime minister said.
On August 6, Medvedev will take part in ceremonial events marking the opening of the new channel of the Suez Canal. Arab leaders, French President Francois Hollande and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras are expected to attend the ceremony, which will take place in the city of Ismailia.
