Today, the Rostov Military District Court continues to consider the “Case of Crimean terrorists” against Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko, and defense witnesses have begun speaking. Today, the court also agreed to add to the case file an extract from the statement of the Rostov PMC about a visit to Gennady Afanasyev, who was previously convicted in the same case. Afanasiev told the members of the Rostov PMC about the torture used against him in order to slander himself and other defendants, and also that the FSB officers threatened him directly in the Rostov court. Speaking at the trial in the case of Sentsov and Kolchenko, Afanasiev retracted the testimony given during the investigation, saying that he slandered them under pressure.
On August 6, the court refused to attach a certificate from the Right Sector stating that Sentsov and Kolchenko were not members of it. The judge said that since the "Right Sector" is banned in Russia, it is "insulting" to present certificates from it to the court.
