The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the assistant to the vice-governor of the Novgorod region, Ulyana Zhuravskaya, who is a suspect in a case of attempted fraud, reports . RAPSI
Investigators believe that Zhuravskaya was an accomplice in the crime.
The day before, the court arrested the vice-governor of the Novgorod region, Viktor Nechaev. On August 11, while receiving 47 thousand dollars, he was detained at his workplace by FSB officers.
According to investigators, Nechaev offered the head of the Shimsky municipal district of the region, Mikhail Nekipelov, a defendant in the case of abuse of power, to stop the criminal prosecution for 5.5 million rubles.
Nechaev took the post of deputy governor in January 2014. He was involved in attracting investment into the economy of the Novgorod region.
