Ex-Senator Gleb Fetisov was released under house arrest

Ex-Senator Gleb Fetisov, accused of withdrawing assets and embezzlement of my bank, was released under house arrest. According to RBC, the press secretary of the Moscow City Court Ulyana Solopova reported this.

The court made such a decision the Presidium of the Moscow City Court according to the results of the consideration of the cassation representation of the Prosecutor General, who believes that Fetisov may be under house arrest. The representation said that the defendant "took active actions to compensate for damage."

In May, during the hearing about changing the preventive measure, the lawyers of the former senator reported that Fetisov repaid all the bank’s debts worth more than 15 billion rubles (despite the fact that the investigation estimates the damage to them at 1.9 billion). Despite the security deposit of 50 million rubles proposed by lawyers, as well as the guarantee of director Nikita Mikhalkov and presidential assistant Sergei Glazyev, the Moscow City Court left him in custody.

Investigators insisted on leaving Fetisov under arrest, since otherwise the businessman could hide, destroy evidence or put pressure on witnesses.

Fetisov spent almost 1.5 years in the investigative insulator - he was detained in February 2014 at Domodedovo Airport. The next day, the basmanian court of the capital placed it in the investigative insulator. In January 2014, the Central Bank withdrew the license from my bank, and in April the bankruptcy procedure of the bank was initiated.

According to the case file, Fetisov is accused of six episodes of fraud. According to investigators, the former senator stole assets in the amount of 555 million rubles from my bank, whose beneficiary was until November 2013, and also caused damage to the bank, providing loans and pledges for one-day companies by almost 1.5 billion rubles. The investigation estimates the total damage at 1.9 billion.
