The Presidium of the Moscow City Court satisfied the proposal of the Prosecutor General's Office to mitigate the preventive measure for former senator Gleb Fetisov, accused of fraud, RAPSI reports .
Thus, the presidium decided to transfer Fetisov from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest.
According to Interfax , Fetisov will not be able to leave his apartment without permission from the Federal Penitentiary Service, communicate with anyone other than close relatives, investigators and lawyers, and also use communications and mail.
Earlier, the Moscow City Court extended Fetisov’s arrest until August 22. Following this decision, the Prosecutor General's Office asked the court to transfer the ex-senator to house arrest, but the appeal was rejected.
The Prosecutor General's Office insisted on mitigating the preventive measure, since the circumstances necessary to keep Fetisov in custody had disappeared: the investigation of the case was completed at that time and Fetisov did not try to interfere with the work of the investigators during the investigation.
Ex-senator Fetisov was arrested at the end of February last year in the case of withdrawing the assets of My Bank, which he previously owned, and failure to fulfill obligations to depositors for 6.5 billion rubles. Fetisov sold the bank in December 2013, and in January 2014 the bank’s license was revoked.
