In the Moscow region, a case was opened against police officers who tried to accuse a theft suspect of seven more crimes.

Based on the results of an inspection by the Shchelkovo City Prosecutor's Office of the Moscow Region, a criminal case was opened against employees of the intermunicipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Shchelkovskoye" under paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code (exceeding official powers).

As reported on the website of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office, during the inspection it turned out that the man accused of theft (points “b”, “c” of Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code) was not involved in seven of the eight criminal episodes charged to him.

In addition, most of the investigative actions with the accused were carried out without a lawyer, and the witnesses, who were acquaintances of the police, participated in them formally. The prosecutor's office also revealed that some investigative protocols and procedural documents were falsified.
