Experiment National Geographic: Can the Rat swim through the sewer into the toilet

The National Geographic Channel checked the city legend about rats that can swim through the sewer pipes and find themselves in someone’s toilet. The experimental rodent really sailed around the pipe, found a place for a break inside the toilet, and then reached the very bowl.

National Geographic explains that rats swim perfectly and can be under water for up to three minutes. In addition, their body is arranged so that they can get into any gap into which their head crawls.

Rats that make their way through the sewer are not fiction. In 2011, Gothamist reported a woman from Brooklyn, who discovered a rodent in her toilet. The wrestler with pests of Eddie Marco then said that with such cases he is often faced. According to him, rats run around an empty pipe, find themselves in the toilet and cannot sail back.

“And people call me, I come, just lower the water in the toilet and get 100 bucks!” - explained the method of combating Marco rats. According to him, this often happens in the toilets of basement and first floors.

Marco noted that if you leave the lid raised, the rat can jump out of the toilet. Once the resulting rodent managed to get out from under the closed cover-there was a fabric cover on the arc, because of which the lid closed loosely. The subordinate Marco went to the call and killed the rat with a shovel for snow.

Now Marco takes from 150 to 200 dollars in order to lower the water or to drown the rat that has sailed into the toilet. For a year, he faces about a dozen such cases.
