Thai police have no doubt that the explosion that occurred on Monday, August 17, at 19:00 local time in Bangkok, was carried out by a man who was captured on CCTV cameras at the scene of the attack. The man in the yellow T-shirt is first sitting on a bench with a backpack next to him. Then he leaves at 18:40, but without the backpack. After a while, an explosion is heard, writes the Guardian, citing Thai police.

"This young man is not just a suspect, he is a terrorist," a police spokesman told The Associated Press.

The suspected terrorist is described as thin, dark-haired, and wearing many bracelets on his arms. Law enforcement agencies say he could be either a Thai citizen or a foreigner.

The explosion occurred on Monday at the busy Ratchaprasong intersection in Bangkok, a business and tourist area near major shopping malls. The device went off just a few meters from a shrine to the Hindu god Erawan. In total, 20 people were killed and 125 were injured in the attack. Five of the dead were Thai citizens, four were Chinese, two were Malaysian citizens, and one was Singaporean. The Russian embassy has no information yet on whether there are any Russians among the dead or injured.
