The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kuril urban district of the Sakhalin region began an investigation into a report of cruel treatment of a bear by a group of young people, according to the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A forester from the Kuril forest district contacted the police with a statement about the abuse of a wild animal.
According to police, three local residents were involved in the incident.
Earlier, the head of the department of licensing activities in the field of hunting and the state hunting register of the Ministry of Forestry, Alexander Grinkevich , told Interfax that the department had asked the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs to find the young people who abused the bear.
According to Grinkevich, the bear survived the incident and is now under the supervision of local game managers.
A video that appeared on the Internet showed how a group of drunken young people in two jeeps first chased a bear along a forest road, and then crushed its paw with an SUV.
The young people planned to kill the bear or run over it with a second jeep. While the company was talking, the bear got out and tore off the wheel of the jeep, and then rushed at the jeep from which the filming was taking place.
As clarifies , the young people ran over the bear eight times in a jeep. Sakhalin.info
An employee of the Ministry of Forestry, Grinkevich, said that last year in the south of Sakhalin, fishermen tried to kill a bear that was fishing next to them and tearing the fishermen’s nets.
“They shot him first, but they didn’t kill him, they wounded him. Therefore, we decided to run over the animal with a KAMAZ. But after that the bear remained alive and as a result attacked them. Two fishermen ended up in the hospital with serious injuries, and our game managers had to go to the scene and eliminate the dangerous animal,” said Grinkevich.
