The Novy Urengoy department of the Investigative Committee for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug opened a criminal case against a 26-year-old local resident under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence).
According to the Investigative Committee, on July 15, the person involved in the case was visiting a friend when he had an epileptic attack.
“Realizing that the 48-year-old man needed medical attention, the suspect, instead of calling an ambulance, without having the skills and knowledge in the field of medicine, tried to provide him with medical assistance using a knife. The man died from his injuries at the scene,” the department said in a statement.
An Interfax source in the investigative authorities said that the person involved in the case turned out to be a fan of medical TV series.
