The leaders of the Moscow museums demanded to punish activists of "God's will"

The leaders of the largest museums of the Russian Federation in an open letter demanded to punish the guilty in the act of vandalism at the exhibition in the arena. They set out the relevant requirements in an open letter published on The Art Newspaper.

“We are waiting for the punishment of the perpetrators. Acts of vandalism in relation to monuments in public spaces, in cemeteries, temples and museums are unacceptable. It is necessary to take measures so that such extremist actions in the future will never be repeated, ”the authors of the letter said.

The circulation also says that the incident was at risk “the entire museum community that turned out to be defenseless in the face of vandals that destroy works of art exhibited at exhibitions.” The actions of activists, the letter says, also undermine the authority of the Orthodox Church.

The signatures under the appeal were made by the director of the Pushkin Museum Marina Loshak, the head of the Tretyakovka Zelfir Tregulova, director of the Polytechnic Museum Julia Shakhnovskaya, the head of the Garage Museum Anton Belov and nine more leaders of Moscow museums.

On August 14, activists of the Radical Orthodox Movement “God's will” broke into the exhibition “Sculptures that we do not see” in the arena and damaged several exhibits. They explained their actions by the fact that exhibits insult the feelings of believers. Now the police are checking on the fact of the incident.
