The rector of the St. Petersburg Conservatory was fired

On Wednesday, August 19, by order of the Ministry of Culture, Mikhail Gantwarg was fired from the post of rector of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. The director of the Rimsky-Korsakov music school Alexei Vasiliev was appointed the new rector.

“The conservatory did not pass the accreditation for a number of programs. Therefore, this year’s graduates of these programs could not receive a state diploma, ”Arakelova explained.

Earlier it was reported that St. Petersburg artists wrote a letter to the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky with a request to assist in overcoming the crisis, in which the St. Petersburg Conservatory found himself, Interfax notes.

One of the oldest teachers of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Professor of the School of Violin and Alta, Mikhail Gantwarg, was elected rector in December 2011. According to Fontanka.ru, he was offered to leave of his own free will, but Gantwarg refused, saying that the team could not betray him to the post of rector.
