
The ex-deputy of the Duma of Yekaterinburg, the former leader of the Sverdlovsk branch of Yabloko, Maxim Petlin, freed himself from the colony, reports Znak.com. He is already at home.
“He called me from home. It was a very brief conversation,” assistant Petlin Irina Skachkova told the publication. “Tomorrow, August 21, he is ready to meet everyone at the exit from IK -2, where he was kept.”
Previously, Skachkova said that after liberation, Petlin wants to devote time to the family. In January, he had a second son, whom the politician has not yet seen. According to Skachkova, most likely, some time after the release, Petlin organizes several meetings with associates and public activists, and also may perform at a press conference.
On March 21, 2013, the Sverdlovsk Regional Courtsentenced Petlin to three years in prison in a general regime colony and a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The court found Petlin guilty under Part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code (Large extortion). His assistant Andrei Panteleev was convicted for a year and a half for aiding Petlin. The Supreme Court replaced Panteleev’s punishment with a conditional one, but left the sentence to the loop in force .
The day before the verdict, the Sverdlovsk Regional Agency for Political Information reported with reference to the press service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court that Petlin was "found guilty." The screenshot of the news was published by the press service of the Yabloko party. Subsequently, the message was changed.
In addition, the site of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court then appeared that the verdict in the case of Petlin has already been issued. “I naively believed that I would find out the court decision tomorrow, but today the press service and the website of the regional court announced that the verdict was sentenced and I was found guilty. My hopes about a fair and independent court were finally scattered today,” Petelin said then.
The criminal case against Petlin was opened in February 2011 . At this time, Petlin actively protested against cutting pine forests for the construction of a shopping and entertainment center. The forest site in question is the sanitary protection zone of the Western-Rorean cemetery of Yekaterinburg. The loop was charged with the fact that his protest campaign was an extortion of 3 million rubles from a construction company. Materials of wiretaps of the phone of Petlin, previously organized on the grounds of calls for extremist activity, were attached to this case.
On February 22, 2011 , Petlin was detained by the FSB officers . However, the court released him to freedom to guarantee a number of famous people. Petlin continued to protest against construction, which was regarded as providing pressure on witnesses. In addition, a video appeared in which an unknown, allegedly on behalf of Petlin, threatens a gun to the director of a construction company. At the end of August 2011, on this basis, Petlin was re -arrested and placed in jail.
All leading opposition and human rights organizations in Russia condemned the factory for the political reasons for the so -called "case of Petlin." The Maxim Petlin protection committee was created, which included, among other things, Vladimir Bukovsky. The surname Petlin was included in the list of political prisoners, transferred to the presidential administration by the organizers of protest shares.
