In 1947, during interrogation to the FBI, Belfreige admitted that he transferred secret documents to the Soviet agents British intelligence, but allegedly did this by order of the Mi-5 leadership.

In the 30s, Cedric Belfreiga was a member of the Communist Party and published a pro-communist newspaper. While working in Hollywood, he was interrogated in 1947 in the commission to investigate anti -American activities, after which he was expelled from the United States for communist activity. When the FBI turned to the British Security Service with a request to inform her about the work of Belfreiga, she received a refusal, motivated by the fact that "this contradicts the principles of Mi-5." In fact, the British did not want to compromise their intelligence after her catastrophic failure, prepared by the efforts of Kim Philby and his four associates. Only after many years, the leadership of British intelligence was concerned about the investigation of Belfreiga's activities, but classified this information. The most amazing thing in this story is that Cedric Belfreige never suffered punishment. He continued the pro -communist activity until his death in Mexico in 1990.
