"The court of the invaders cannot be fair by definition"
On the process in the process in Rostov-on-Don in the case of the so-called Crimean terrorists, the state prosecutor asked the court to appoint a punishment in the form of 23 years in a maximum security colony with a restriction of freedom for two years. For another accused, Alexander Kolchenko , the prosecutor asked 12 years in prison with restriction of liberty for one year and six months.
Sentsov and Kolchenko refused to participate in the debate of the parties. The defense urged the judicial collegium to fully justify the accused who made the last word.
Sentsov: I still hope that in general this will be my not the last word all the same ... I, too, like Sasha [ Kolchenko ], I will not ask you to experience condescending here, everything is clear ... The court of invaders cannot be fair by definition. Nothing personal, your honor!
I want to say about something else ... Pontius Pilate - such a character was. When he sat on the moon for many years, he thought about his act ... Then, when he was forgiven, he walked along the lunar path and said Ga-Notskri: "You know, you were right, the most terrible sin on earth is cowardice." This was written by the great Russian writer Bulgakov in the book "Master and Margarita", and I agree with him. Cowardice is the most important, worst sin on earth. Betrayal is such a private form of cowardice.
A great betrayal sometimes begins with a small cowardice ... When you put a bag on your head, they beat a little, and after half an hour you are ready to renounce all your beliefs, to stipulate yourself in anything, to stipulate other people, only to stop hitting. I don’t know what your beliefs can cost if you are not ready to suffer or die for them ...
"The court of the invaders cannot be fair by definition"
I am very glad that Gene Afanasyev ( a witness to the prosecution on a process that refused the data initially and declared that they were received under torture. - RS ) was able to step over [through] himself. He stumbled, but, in the end, he realized that there was still a chance, and made a very courageous, very correct act. I was very surprised by this and glad for him. It’s not even a matter that there will be a big scandal, some will be a problem-to justify us. No, this will not happen. I am glad for him that he will live on and feel like a person who was not scared, although they continue to threaten him, put pressure on him, beat his feet, and threaten him. But he already ... took a step in that direction, the step is correct, and you will not return back. I am very glad for him.
I’ve been in your beautiful country for a year and watching your TV. The Vesti, Time programs are very good programs. Your propaganda works fine. Most of the Russian population believes what they say: Putin is well done, in Ukraine fascists, Russia does everything right, enemies around. Very good propaganda. But I also understand that there are people more smart, like you, for example, here, the authorities are emerging. You perfectly understand that there are no fascists in Ukraine that Crimea was taken illegally, and your troops are present in the Donbass. Even I, in prison, I know that your troops in the Donbass. We have the entire insulator is packed with militias, who are sent there as heroes, on your tanks, with your weapons. They are fighting there, they think that they are waiting here, returning, taking ammunition with them, they are accepted at the border and give them deadlines. And they are surprised: "How, for what? We are like heroes, we were so escorted ..." Not understanding that this train is working in one direction. Even here, in prison, they know it.
Why raise a new generation of slaves, guys?
Here, in prison, I met with Gereushnik, your officer, a soldier, or rather, he was judged by another crime, he participated in the seizure of Crimea. On March 24, they arrived in Sevastopol on ships and blocked just military units. He just blocked that part that I supplied and exported. Such, yes, an interesting thing. And he participated, his brigade participated in the Ilovaisky boiler, which was defeated by Russian troops.

These are facts that lie on the surface. If you do not squint, you see them. For example, your trumpeters of the regime are worth, and they are also shallow guys, they all know how it is, but they continue to lie, as if they continue to do their job, finding some kind of excuse inside. Surely they justify themselves: we need to feed children, we need to do something ... Why raise a new generation of slaves, guys?
But besides these all, there is also a part of the Russian population who knows what is happening, which does not believe in the tales of your agitprop, which understands what is happening on Earth and in the world, what terrible crimes your leadership commits, but for some reason these people are afraid. They think that nothing can be changed, that everything will be as it is, that you won’t break the system - you are alone, we are not enough, we will be married to prisons, kill, destroy ... and sit quietly in the underground, like mice.
We also had criminal power, but we came out against it. We did not want to hear us - we knocked into garbage tanks. The authorities did not want to see us - we set fire to the tires. In the end, we won. The same thing will happen to you sooner or later. In what form-I do not know, and I do not want someone to suffer, I just want the criminals no longer ruled you.
Judge : This is not within the framework of the process. We are discussing narrow issues. By law, you cannot talk about everything.
Sentsov : I am finishing already, your honor!
Judge : Yes, I don't interrupt you, just ...
Sentsov : I realized that you do not interrupt me, yes ... So the only thing I can wish for this third, informed part of the Russian population is to learn how to not be afraid!
The sentence to Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko will be issued on August 25.
