"Russian armed groups near our border in the east today are already more than 50 thousand people, more than 40 thousand are in the occupied territories, including 9 thousand personnel military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation standing in leading positions, thereby forming divisions of the Russian army in our territory," said Poroshenko.

On August 21, Poroshenko said that Ukrainians and Russians are not a single people. According to Poroshenko, in the conditions of the war "there can be no fraternal peoples."

The need for the unity of the Russian and Ukrainian people by the President of Ukraine was announced to the President of Ukraine in the United States, Yuri Shcherbak, about the need to “debunk the Putin’s mythology”. He also recalled the recent words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine is under external management.

On August 17, speaking in the Crimea, Putin expressed the hope that Ukraine "will depart from the shameful practice that we observe today, namely the production of a whole huge European country under external management." Putin once again stated, "Russians and Ukrainians are generally one people." According to Putin, "Ukraine will stand on its feet and will develop positively, together with Russia to build its future."

Poroshenko sharply reacted to Putin’s visit to Crimea, calling this a “challenge for the civilized world and a continuation of the scenario of the situation of the situation”.

On August 1, Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian authorities will develop a plan for the provision of the status of national-territorial autonomy as part of Ukraine. "Ukraine will never, under any conditions, will come to terms with a violation of the rights of its citizens, human rights, the rights of the Crimean Tatar people to live freely on their land," the appeal of Poroshenko says.
