Oleg Sentsov was given for 20 years

Today, August 25, a verdict in the Crimean terrorists case has been announced in the North Caucasus District Military Court. Cinema director Oleg Sentsov and anarchist Alexander Kolchenko are found guilty and sentenced, respectively, to 20 and 10 years in a maximum security colony.

It is reported by "Mediazona." Prior to the entry into force of the sentence, convicts will remain in the pre-trial detention center-4 in Rostov-on-Don.

In May 2014, Sentsov was detained by the FSB in Crimea, where, according to investigators, he prepared a series of terrorist attacks . Later, the director was also charged under the article “illegal acquisition, sale and storage of weapons” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The process in the Crimean Terrorists case began on July 21. On the first day, the director said that he did not plead guilty and considers the case political and fabricated. On July 31, the key witness of the prosecution refused to testify against Sentsov and stated that he gave all the previous testimonies under pressure.

On August 19, the prosecutordemanded a punishment of 23 years in prison for Sentsov and 12 years for Kolchenko.

In support of Oleg Sentsov, Russian and foreign cultural figures and human rights activists spoke, they consider the charges against him far -fetched and politically motivated. The Human Rights Center "Memorial" recognized Sentsov and Kolchenko political prisoners.
