The Department of Police and the Border Guard of Estonia intends to build a fence of 2.5 meters high along the land border with Russia. It is reported by Postimees.
The length of the fence will be about 108 kilometers - these are about two thirds of the length of the land border between the two countries. The rest of the border passes through the swampy areas. They will not build a fence there, but only they will install the border posts and lay the control strip.
Along with the construction of the fence, it is planned to install fences that prevent the movement of wild animals.
At the top of the fence, barbed wire will be laid.
It is also supposed to use video cameras and unmanned aerial vehicles to protect the border.
Finally, in the water area of Lake Peipsi, border guards will place more than 600 border bucks.
The arrangement of the border will begin in 2018. The total cost of work will be 71 million euros.
