The prosecution asked the court to sentence Vadim Timofeev, accused in the case of the Yak-42 plane crash near Yaroslavl in 2011, to six years in a colony-settlement.

“We believe that the civil claims of the Khrunichev center and the Lokomotiv hockey club must be dismissed due to the fact that the case has been separated into a separate proceeding,” said prosecutor Elena Ronzhina.

• As a result of the disaster, which occurred in September 2011, 37 players of the Lokomotiv hockey club and seven crew members were killed. Only flight engineer Alexander Sizov managed to survive.
• Consideration of the plane crash case began in December 2014. The defendant in the case is one of the former leaders of the Yak Service airline, Vadim Timofeev. He is charged with violating the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, which negligently caused the death of more than two persons.
