Former Defense Ministry official Yevgenia Vasilyeva left the women's correctional colony number 1 in the village of Golovino, Vladimir Region.
Vasilyeva left the colony two hours after the Sudogodsky District Court of the Vladimir Region granted her request for parole.
According to lawyer Vasilyeva, after her release, she will continue to work at the Gridnev and Partners law office.
The defense of the ex-official of the Ministry of Defense filed a petition with the court to remove the arrest from Vasilyeva's property. A date for the hearing of the application has not yet been set.
- In May 2015, Yevgenia Vasilyeva was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for fraud with the assets of the Ministry of Defense. She was found guilty of fraud on an especially large scale, money laundering and abuse of office.
- Vasilyeva's defense protested the verdict, but on July 31 it became known that the complaint had been withdrawn. It is assumed that the convict abandoned the appeal in order to quickly be released on parole.
- On August 25, the Sudogodsky District Court released Vasilyeva on parole. The defense, during the consideration of the petition, indicated that Vasilyeva fully compensated for the damage, and the administration of the colony gave her a positive response. The court decision stated that Vasiliev should be "immediately released" from the colony.
