The Dawn spacecraft sent fresh photos of the dwarf planet Cerera, which is located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Most of all, this planet is known for mysterious luminous spots (which, according to one version, can be ice or salt). But on it there is a mountain in the form of a pyramid about six kilometers high. This mountain is clearly visible in one of the new photos taken from a height of about 1500 kilometers on August 18-19.

Soon the Dawn device will decrease to 375 kilometers. Then he will be able to transmit more clear images.
The Dawn automatic interplanetary station has been exploring Cerera since March 6, 2015, when she got there after eight years of journey. According to scientists, there are much more traces of activity on Cerer than on the asteroid West, where Dawn flew along the road. The study of these celestial bodies will understand how the solar system was born.
