Roskomnadzor unlocked Wikipedia, according to the department’s website.
It is clarified that the article on the drugs of Charas was edited and no longer violates Russian legislation. This, as reported in the supervisory department, is evidenced by the expert opinion of the FSKN. It does not specify exactly what changes were made to the article.
Earlier on August 25, the department announced the deletion of the old address of the article on Wikipedia from the register of prohibited sites. The notification of Roskomnadzor was published by the administrator of the encyclopedia and the executive director of Vikimedia RU Stas Kozlovsky.
The document said that the page is deleted from the https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/charas. This address was mentioned in a court decision on blocking. Previously, a drug was made to this address, which also described the method of manufacturing it.
On August 22, the participants in Wikipedia decided to change the address of the article. After that, at the address indicated in the court decision, users were offered several meanings of the word “Charas”, including grapes, river and island. At the same time, the article on the drug was not changed.
The Wikipedia insisted that the article was written by open sources, including according to information taken from the UN website.
On the evening of August 24, Roskomnadzor reported that they plan to add a page to the register of prohibited sites. At the same time, due to the use by the HTTPS protocol resource, most providers will not be able to block a separate page on Wikipedia, which will lead to blocking the entire resource.
Providers began to block Wikipedia on the night of August 25. The encyclopedia after that extended the instructions for circulating the lock.
