This is the fourth claim to Russia, directed by Ukraine in the ECHR
Ukraine sent a lawsuit against Russia to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in connection with the sentenger Oleg Sentsov and the Crimean activist Alexander Kolchenko issued on the eve of the Rostov-on-Don. This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko. According to him, in the document Kyiv draws attention to massive violations of the rights of Ukrainians detained in Russia.
The North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced Oleg Sentsov the day before to 20 years in a maximum security colony , and Alexander Kolchenko-to the age of ten on charges of preparing terrorist attacks and the creation of a terrorist organization in Crimea. They did not admit guilt. Sentsov, speaking with the last word, said that "the court of the invaders cannot be fair by definition." Amnesty International and the Russian human rights center Memorial recognized convicted Ukrainians political prisoners.
The lawsuit against Russia, which Ukraine has been sent to the ECHR today, is already the fourth in a row. Earlier, Kyiv asked for the Strasbourg court to hold Moscow liable for the annexation of Crimea, support for separatists in the Donbass, violation of the rights of the leader of the Crimean-Tatar people of Mustafa Dzhemilev and his son. Another lawsuit concerned "the alleged abduction of three groups of Ukrainian orphans taken to Russia from the territory of Eastern Ukraine from June to August of this year."
