Colta.ru invites to the "Island of the 90s"

On September 20, in the Moscow Museon Park “Museon”, CoLTA.RU will hold the festival “Island of the 90s”-about the whole best that was in the culture of the 1990s: new music, media, literature, cinema, fashion and entertainment.

“The first post -Soviet decade is a contradictory and interesting time in the modern history of Russia: the time whose generous heritage is not yet meaningful. The 1990s in Russia is a period of extensive growth and development of the economy, this is the period of formation of social and political institutions that are still unfamiliar to the country, this is a time of fruitful experiments in culture and media, this is a time of freedom, the taste of which cannot be forgotten. The 1990s gave us a new lexicon, new literature, new cinema, new music, new fashion. They gave us a different quality of life-it was time to remember how it was, and look at the past with different eyes, ”the festival’s press release says.

The space of the festival is divided into several thematic zones. A semi -hour -based marratphone will become a semantic rod. From 12:00 to 19:00, the main characters of the era will talk about the most important cultural processes and phenomena that took place in the decades saturated with events.

In the 90s, the Russian media is dedicated to the largest part of the program in which Yuri Saprykin, Elena Nusinova, Sergey Mostovshchikov, Leonid Zlotin and many others will take part. In a special zone, it will also be possible to flip out the originals of the cult publications of those years - “Capital”, “Ptyuch”, “Om”, “Evening Moscow”, “Today” and talk with people who participated in their creation.

Modern poets- Mikhail Aizenberg, Sergey Gandlevsky, Dmitry Vodennikov, Timur Kibirov, Stanislav Lviv, Lev Rubinstein, Elena Fanailova and others-will read their poems written in the 90s.

On the central scene of the festival, young Moscow groups will rethink the famous songs of the decades and warm the audience in front of the headliner of the musical program- the Auktsyon group, the authors of one of the most important albums of the 1990s Bird.

Flea and clothing markets, youth rock and rave culture, the first glossy magazines and glossy photographers-these and many other phenomena will be reflected in the festival zone dedicated to the fashion of the 90s, the time of new visuality. The “show-monument” by the 90th entitled “Pere $ Troika” will be arranged by Alexander Petliura , who for 30 years has gathered a huge collection of rare objects-2000 pairs of shoes, 1,500 male and women's costumes, 1000 units of men's and women's linen, 3000 units of accessories, 2000 household items. To recreate the atmosphere of those years, we ask all the guests of the festival to find your favorite things in our wardrobes and come in outfits in the style of the 90s.

The film program of the festival has the most important films of the era, which reflect the search for a new visual language and new plots of the 90s: the “outskirts” of Peter Lutsik and Alexei Samorov, “Moscow” Alexander Zeldovich, “Proterva” by Ivan Dykhovichny, “Country of Deaf” Valery Todorovsky. The moderator is Vasily Koretsky .

Documentary photographs of the 90s will be shown at the CIS Roads: Motoreport from the 1990s, the Berlin photographer-motorcyclist Petra Gall, who in the 1991–1996s participated in several biker tours on the Roads of the CIS. The curator of the exhibition is Mikhail Buster .

Visitors to the “Island of the 90s” will also wait: the premiere of the fragment of the performance of the circus Charles La Tanna “The Palace of Youth”-the Promenade Theater on music, art and riots of the 90s against the system, silence and ordinaryness; The playground with a special program, which is prepared by the creative camp “Cavardak”, and much more.


The Island of the 90s festival is supported by the Foundation "Presidential Center B.N. Yeltsin ”(Yeltsin Center) and the educational project“ Your History ”.

Fund "Presidential Center B.N. Yeltsin ”(Yeltsin Center) is a non-profit organization whose main task is to preserve, study and comprehend the historical heritage of Boris Yeltsin in the context of the political and social events of the 90s. The center supports educational, research, charitable and cultural projects.

The educational project “Your History” creates a new space for studying history for teachers, students who are interested in all, restores and explores historical events, talks about people who made the country's history with their own hands and explains the connections between the most important historical events.

The Museon Art Park is an unique open-air sculpture museum, one of the most dynamically developing cultural and educational sites in Moscow. In recent years, the park has become a venue for exhibitions, shows of rare cinema, theatrical productions and original music festivals, has turned into a center of self -education and a large creative workshop.
