The cost of restoration of exhibits from the Manege will exceed a million rubles

The restoration of works damaged on August 14 during an attack on the exhibition “Sculptures that we do not see” in the Moscow “Manege” will cost 1.1 million rubles. The full amount of damage has not yet been determined.

This was reported by the Moscow Agency with reference to the press secretary of the Museum and Exhibition Association "Manege" Elena Karneeva.

She also commented on a new attack on the exhibition: in the evening of August 26, two visitors tore the work of Vadim Sidur. “The guardian of the funds will inspect it for damage,” Karneeva said.

On August 14, five exhibits of the exhibition “Sculptures that we do not see”, including four other works by Sidur, were damaged by activists of the “God's will” movement, which explained their actions by the fact that these works of art insulted the feelings of believers.

Experts of the All-Russian Artistic Scientific and Restoration Center named after Grabar found that two of the four works of Sidur would require a long restoration using individually developed techniques. Only after that they will be able to exhibit again.

All damaged exhibits of the exhibition “Sculptures that we do not see” are included in the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
