It is still unknown who did this: at first some “Cossacks of St. Petersburg” declared themselves, then the local Cossacks refuted this information, saying that such an organization does not exist and they are ready to punish those who “spoil the property of cultural heritage”. The Monument Protection Committee quickly reacted and fixed the loss, opened a criminal case and, finally, promised that the bas -relief would be restored.

The irony is that the crafty demon on the bas -relief looked right in the windows of the temple of Ksenia of Petersburg, which has been erected on Lakhtinskaya since 2010.
