Chekhov in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk hosted the closing ceremony of the Fifth Sakhalin International Film Festival "End of the World". The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to director Denise Gamza Ergüvens (Türkiye) for the film "Mustang".
The picture talks about five teenage sisters who are not ready to come to terms with the traditions that limit their freedom. The film "Mustang" was awarded with the wording "For a whole statement about the importance of the freedom of young women in Asia and for the pulsating energy of real life in the cinema," the festival website reports.
The performers of the main roles of the jury, chaired by Iranian director Mokhsen Mahmalbaf, awarded a special prize "for the natural naturalness and beauty of existence in the frame."
The prize of the best director received Mikhail Radutsky for the film "Rawn Union" , an acting ensemble of the picture awarded in the nomination "Best Male Role". Also, the film Plautsky received an honorary prize of the Honorary President of the Festival of Alla Surikova.
The prize for the best female role was awarded to actress Lee Young Lan (South Korea), who played in the film “The End of winter” Kim De Khan. The Grand Prix of the audience was won by the film “Moskvich”, my love ”Arama Shakhbazyan.
The fifth Sakhalin International Film Festival "End of the World" was held from August 21 to 28. In the main competition, nine films took part, including three Russian paintings.
