Neuropsychologist Oliver Sacks dies

Neuropsychologist Oliver Sacks has died in the United States. He was 82 years old.

Sachs is a well-known popularizer of science. He has written several bestsellers. One of the most famous works is called "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat". In this book, Sachs tells the stories of his patients.

Oliver Sacks' books have been translated into 25 languages. More than a million copies of his work have been sold in the US alone.

• In February 2015, Oliver Sacks revealed in a column for The New York Times that he had cancer. The disease was diagnosed nine years ago, and in February, Sachs learned that metastases had been found in his liver. The scientist promised to live the remaining months until the end of his life as productively as possible and thanked nature that he could live more than nine years after the discovery of cancer.
