The name and citizenship of the arrested are not officially called. According to local special services, a man is a native of Turkey. At the same time, it was reported that the Turkish passport found from the alleged attacker is fake. A foreigner was detained in an apartment in the Nong Chok area in the north of Bangkok. It is noted that in the building he rented four apartments at once.

About 100 police officers and soldiers took part in the detention operation. According to the Reuters photographer, who was present at the scene, the apartment where the suspect lived, was settled and none of the journalists who were on the street saw a man, Channel Newsasia notes. Personnel of special operations demonstrated local television.

According to one version, the explosion could be revenge for the deportation of Uyghurs. In July, Thailand deported 97 Uyghurs, who lived in the kingdom for about a year, back to China. A month earlier, 173 Uyghur, recognized by Turkish citizens, were expelled to this country.

After these cases, human rights activists accused Thai's authorities of "forcibly separation of Uyghur families." However, the Prime Minister Praint Chan-Och called the process of deportation "absolutely legal."

Soon after the explosion, a Frenchman who tried to fly away from the country was detained on suspicion in connection with the terrorist attack, but he was later released .
