British politicians were outraged by the decision of Spain to allow the Russian submarine "Novorossiysk" to enter for refueling to the seuta port located in the enclave on the northern coast of Morocco, writes The Independent .

British parliamentarians and military experts accused the Spanish government of a "obvious provocation" directed against Gibraltar - the overseas territory of Great Britain on the Pyrenee Peninsula, which is disputed by Spain, RIA Novosti points out. In their opinion, Spain allowed Novorossiysk to go to the port, which is located near the territory of Gibraltar to intimidate the population of the British enclave.

The parliamentarian Andrew Rozinell is indignant: "Spain has invariably ignored the boundaries of Gibraltar's territorial waters, rammed ships and even opened fire on ships with tourists. And now, to top it all, they allow the fleet of the unfriendly state to leave a submarine less than 18 miles from Gibraltar."

Military analysts, among other things, are also concerned that Spain’s actions say that Europe does not have determination to resist Russia in relation to Ukraine. While NATO is focused on acting as a united front, one of the alliance members "accepts the advanced Russian warship following the Black Sea," emphasizes the military expert of the American analytical center Heritage Foundation Luke Koffi. In his opinion, Spain’s actions will cause a strong protest in the United States, given that Madrid does not allow the US or NATO ships off the coast of Spain if they were in Gibraltar.

Russian officials deny involvement of conflict in the east of Ukraine, whose authorities accuse Moscow of supplying military equipment and ammunition to separatists and the presence of Russian military personnel in their ranks.
