Actor Mikhail Svetin died on Sunday morning in the intensive care unit of the Gatchina Central District Hospital in the Leningrad Region, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the region’s administration.

“Svetin died today at 06:45 in the morning,” said the representative of the administration.

People's Artist of the Russian Federation Svetina was hospitalized on August 23, after an emergency operation he was transferred to intensive care . According to media reports, he had a neurological stroke. Svetin was connected to the apparatus of artificial lung ventilation.

Mikhail Svetin (real name - Goltsman) was 84 years old, he was born on December 11, 1930 in Kyiv. Until recently, Svetin served in the Petersburg Comedy Theater named after Akimov. During his career, the actor starred in more than 80 films, among them Afonya, Twelve Chairs, the Man from the Kapucin Boulevard and Sorcerers. He received the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 1996. In 1987, Svetin became an honored artist of the RSFSR.
