© FacebookIn the near future, the Moscow Gogol-Center Theater will have a new director, the selection of candidates is personally conducted by the artistic director of Gogol-Center Kirill Serebrennikov.
He told about this today, August 31, in an interview with TASS . Earlier, the head of the Moscow Culture Department, Alexander Kibovsky, said that he was waiting for a candidacy from Serebrennikov for the post of director of the Gogol Center, who was released in July after the departure of Anastasia Golub.
“I told Alexander Kibovsky that in this situation I would work with any director whom the department would offer, but unexpectedly for myself from the media I found out that, it turns out, I must find the director myself. And I'm looking. - said Serebrennikov. “In the coming days I have planned meetings with different people, among whom are experienced professionals.”
“Recently, I had the impression that someone had given the team to destroy the Gogol Center, presenting it in such a way that we ourselves led the theater to collapse, they say, they were such idiots that even the director left them,” the director added.
According to him, the Department of Culture does not help the Gogol Center to get out of the difficult financial situation in which he ended up-since May the department "stopped responding to calls and letters."
Serebrennikov denied the information that the debts of the theater had reached 80 million rubles, clarifying that "this is a planned deficit before the end of 2015, if you do not urgently take any measures." “Now Gogol Center has no debt. There is no debts, but there are no funds in the account either, ”the director explained. He also said that the proposals to provide financial assistance to Gogol-Center came from the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater Oleg Tabakov and the Theater of Nations.
The new season “Gogol Center” will open on September 15 on September 15 the premiere of the play “Who lives well in Rus'” according to Nekrasov. On September 19–20, another premiere is scheduled - “Russian Tales”. According to the director, "this is the theater quest in Russian fairy tales from the Afanasyev collection."
In addition, the theater plans the performance “Tchaikovsky”, a poetic trilogy about Mayakovsky, Mandelstam and Pasternak. “Of course, all this will happen if the theater continues to exist and it will not be closed for any reason, especially since we continues the repair, and the other day we have already sent a commission to check the state of the theater,” the director said.
He recalled that in three years, 250 events took place in the Gogol Center-performances, concerts, film premieres, exhibitions, lectures, books presentations. “We cannot be accused of inefficiency. And the important thing is that we are not engaged in politics. We are engaged in art. And for me now this is the main slogan. This place is important to me, people who work here. And we have a lot of plans for the future, ”said Serebrennikov.
