The director of "Nightmare on Vyazov Street" died

On Sunday, August 30, at the age of 76 in Los Angeles, an American director, producer and screenwriter Wes Craven, who shot classic horror films, such as “Nightmare on Vyazov Street” and “Scream” died of cancer.

Wes Craven was born in 1939 in Cleveland, studied literature and psychology at the Christian college in Viton, Illinois, and at the University of Hopkins in Baltimore, taught humanitarian sciences in colleges of the states of Pennsylvania and New York.

Having moved to New York, he worked as a sound engineer in one of the film companies, in the early 1970s he shot his first film. The success of the horror films “ The Last House on the Left, 1972) and“ The Hills have eyes ”( The Hills Have Eyes , 1977) brought success.

In 1984, Wes Craven released the film “Nightmare on Elm Street), which laid the foundation for the most popular franchise in the genre of youth horror. The main villain from the “Nightmare on the Street of Vyazov”, the maniac killer Freddy Krueger, became a cult character.
