In 2015, more than 350 thousand migrants arrived in the European Union through the Mediterranean Sea, and tens of thousands are located on the borders with the EU countries. When trying to cross the sea, more than two and a half thousand people died. The migration crisis in Europe forces the EU member states-especially Italy, Greece, Hungary-to strengthen the protection of borders. However, attempts to control illegal migrants running from countries where armed conflicts are going on often fail, and there are more and more refugees. The authorities of European countries where migrants arrive do not cope with their stream, and ask for help from other states. On September 5, Austria and Germany said they would accept all the refugees who arrived in Hungary. The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel emphasized that there is no limit to receive migrants.
