The chairman of the People’s Council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Andrei Purgin was resigned, Denis Pushilin, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, was appointed to fulfill his duties. 70 out of 73 deputies voted for the resignation of Purgin.
"The last straw of patience of the deputies was today's attempt to disrupt the meeting of the People’s Council, when the deputy corps had to listen to obviously false statements made to injure and destabilize the situation," the Donetsk News Agency quotes.
According to him, Purgin "fell under the influence of" the head of the apparatus of the People’s Council Alexei Alexandrov, who "undertook a number of political statements that were contrary to the policy of the whole state." The appointment of Alexandrov, he added, caused significant difficulties in the work of the parliament.
"An initiative group of deputies gathered an extraordinary meeting of the People’s Council of the DPR, as a result of which 70 out of 73 deputies voted for the withdrawal of Andrei Evgenievich Purgin from the post of chairman of the People’s Council of the DPR," the statement of Pushilin said.
Having become the acting chairman of the parliament, he immediately signed a decree on the removal of Alexandrov from the post of head of the apparatus of the People’s Council.
The Ministry of State Security (MGB) of the DPR began an investigation against Alexandrov. He was closed to the entrance to the territory of the self -proclaimed republic "in connection with its destructive activity," the Donetsk News Agency reports .
"At the same time, Purgin with a group of deputies, taking advantage of the deputy immunity, contributed to the illegal crossing of the border by Alexandrov A.G. and currently contribute to its shelter from justice bodies. According to these facts, an investigation is being conducted," the MGB said.
Earlier it was reported that Purgina and Alexandrov were detained on the border of the DPR, but later they still drove to the territory of the self-proclaimed republic. Border guards explained their actions by order of the head of the MGB. Also, employees of the Ministry of State Security detained the son of Aleksandrov. “They did not show me anything, just hold and ask to inform where the desired object is, although I honestly don’t know where he is currently located,” the Novorossiya news agency quoted him.
Purgin will continue to fulfill the functions of the deputy, representatives of the parliament say. Pushilin, taking the post of chairman of the People’s Council, became the second person of the republic after her head Alexander Zakharchenko.
According to RIA Novosti , citing a source close to the leadership of the self -proclaimed republic, at the moment, Purgin is discussing with the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko "his personnel prospects." Another source of the agency previously claimed that Purgin is in Donetsk and his activity was not limited in any way.
Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Strategic Communications Agency, told TASS that a group of deputies led by Alexandrov, "taking advantage of the achievement of the world, decided to engage in the redistribution of power and budget flows within the republic in their favor." “According to my information, they have repeatedly indicated the inadmissibility of such actions. However, the proper effect did not take it. As a result, on the morning of September 4, the Ministry of State Security of the DPR was decided to ban Alexandrov’s entry into the territory of the republic that he ignored,” the agency’s interlocutor added.
