Director of the Rossiya Segodnya agency and TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov has challenged in court the sanctions imposed against him by the European Union. He filed a lawsuit with the European Court of General Jurisdiction.
According to Kiselev's lawsuit, the European Union could not impose sanctions against him for supporting Russian policy towards Ukraine, since he does not hold high government posts, but simply expressed his opinion as a journalist. According to Kiselev, the EU also violated his right to freedom of speech.
The lawsuit was filed in May 2015, but it became known about it only now.
