Anti-corruption activists promote transparency with video game styled on ‘Mortal Kombat’
Working with activists from Alexey Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, the organization Komanda 29 ("Team 29"), a union of lawyers and journalists dedicated to promoting transparency, has launched a project called “Municipal Kombat,” styled on the popular video game “Mortal Kombat.” (The project’s website is designed to resemble the video game.) Municipal Combat aims to "bring to justice" Russia's local municipal authorities who refuse to disclose vital information, such as data about their earnings.
The website will feature information about court hearings against local authorities and the results of anti-corruption investigations. The authorities who have been prosecuted and penalized for corruption are listed as “defeated.”

- Komanda 29 was founded by St.-Petersburg-based lawyer Ivan Pavlov, who is known as an activist promoting the freedom of information. In April, Pavlov and a team of lawyers launched the website “Infodozor,” which contains information on levels of transparency at various municipal offices across Russia.
- The Anti-Corruption Foundation was founded in 2011 by opposition politician Alexey Navalny. The foundation has published the results of many investigations into corruption among top Russian officials.
