The Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people intends to begin the food blockade of Crimea by continental Ukraine. According to Ukrainian Pravda, this was announced at a press conference in Kiev by the chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov.

Such a measure, the politician explained, is planned in response to strengthening the repression of the invaders in relation to the indigenous people of the peninsula. He expressed confidence that the food blockade will become an effective form of pressure on Russia.

Unlimited trade with the Crimea, which the continental Ukraine is now conducting - "this, in fact, is the support of the occupation and the occupation army," the head of the Mejlis noted. “We believe that they are immoral (products. - Ed.) Their occupation army, when they burst into our homes, abduct our people,” he emphasized.

Reals, Chubarov also stated that instead of supplying products on the peninsula, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should open a network of retail outlets in the Kherson region, "so that every honest person who is not a traitor could come calmly ... and provide himself at the prices that exist on mainland Ukraine." “And traitors and direct collaborators let them go to the Krasnodar Territory - these are their problems,” the politician noted.

From the 20th of September, Chubarov told, Crimean Tatars will begin to block the wagons following the continent to the peninsula. The exact start date of the blockade will be announced next week.

In turn, the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people, the ex-head of the Majlis Mustafa Dzhemilev, stated at the same press conference that 80 percent of food, 85 percent of electricity and about 80 percent of irrigation water are received in Crimea from continental Ukraine. "This situation only helps to strengthen the position of the invaders," he said.

"The arguments that our citizens are located there and therefore we cannot leave them without electricity, water and food are absurd, because according to all international standards, the occupancy is responsible for the legal, material, and social status of the occupied territories," continued Dzhemilev.

In addition, he noted, 80 percent of products arriving on the peninsula from continental Ukraine go to the international recognized territory of Russia through the ferry crossing in Kerch, "and the rest goes to military units of the invaders, punitive detachments, self -defense units that press our compatriots, our fellow citizens."

At the same time, Jamillev emphasized that the planned action should not contradict the policy of the Ukrainian authorities, therefore, to coordinate its conditions, he will later meet President Petro Poroshenko on Tuesday.

The leaders of the Mejlis also presented five demands to the Russian authorities. The first is the liberation of the Ukrainian political prisoners. The second is the elimination of illegal obstacles to work on the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian media peninsula. Third - unhindered admission to the region of foreign journalists and human rights activists. The fourth is the cessation of the persecution of Crimean Tatars and other citizens of Ukraine. The fifth is the withdrawal of the ban on entry into the region of Dzhemilev, Chubarov, as well as activists of the Crimean Tatar National Movement of Ismet Yuksel and Sinavere Kadyrov.

The list of political prisoners presented at a press conference is eight personalities. These are Nadezhda Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko, Alexander Kostenko, Akhtem Chiygoz, Mustafa Deggermendi, Ali Asanov, Tair Smedlyaev. It is logical, although belated." “It is not the first to observe us when the Crimean Tatars are the vanguard in the protection of Ukrainian state national interests regarding the Crimean theme,” the politician said. “This was before, and today.
