1380 Battle of Kulikovo

635 years ago, on September 8, 1380, the Russian army of the Moscow prince Dmitry Donskoy defeated the army of the Golden Horde led by Temnik Mamai in the Battle of Kulikovo. There is no reliable data on the course of the battle. According to one version, the defeat of Mamai was caused by the news that Khan Tokhtamysh, who competed with him, attacked his camps: this forced Mamai to stop the battle and urgently retreat. Characteristically, there were no prisoners in the battle.
