The commission on monumental art under the Moscow City Duma decided that the monument to the Kyiv Prince Vladimir should be erected on the Borovitskaya Square of the capital, next to the Kremlin. It is reported by TASS.

In addition to Borovitskaya Square, the initiator of the installation of the monument - the Russian Military Historical Society - offered the commission two more possible for the monument: Lubyanskaya Square and Zaryadye. How many votes were cast for each of the three options, the agency does not specify.

The installation of the monument to Vladimir was assumed as one of the memorable events in the year of the 1000th anniversary of his death. Initially, the monument was planned to open on the Sparrow Mountains, but this idea caused protests . It is known that the engineering and geological conditions of the terrain do not allow such a heavy structure to build there. In addition, the security zone of the Moscow State University building as a monument of architecture and the territory of the Vorobyovy Gory natural reserve immediately converge.

On June 9, the RVIO, headed by the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, turned to the Moscow City Duma with a request to find another place for the monument .

It was supposed to open the monument on November 4. However, at the end of August, the Executive Director of the RVIO Vladislav Kononov did not rule out that the installation of the monument would be postponed for 2016 . "The date of November 4 is determined by the government, we are ready to be in time for this date, but we do not exclude the prolongation of the installation time, no one drives anyone, does not force us to do in a hurry. We will wait for the decisions of the Moscow authorities," Kononov said.
