“At the end of February, the piercing open letter of the television journalist Mikhail Rodin , who appeals to colleagues with hard reproaches for systematic lies in the presentation of science information , was dispersed through social networks . We reproduce it unchanged ”( http://klnran.ru ).
The editors of the TRV- science also considers it necessary to publish this letter. It is still relevant . Unfortunately .
Dear, colleagues-journalists, what have we achieved over the past ten years? The media is a source of lies. Mass Media is a means of planting ignorance and stupidity. A TV is a receate. It is not necessary to conduct a sociological study in order to declare - this is the opinion of any educated person. Who is to blame for this? We! In recent years, it is more difficult to tell the truth about politics, economics, housing and communal services and so on. This is true. This is our trouble, our main disappointment. Many honest journalists ran away from "information" so as not to lie. But what makes the media promote pseudoscience, ignorance, stupidity, superstition, conspiracy and other nonsense? No one ever forced us. Let's admit: the appearance of all this on the air is a sign of our illiteracy, laziness and unscrupulousness. This is our shame.
It seems to us that the phrase "scientific sensation" attracts the viewer. This stupidity - the word "sensation" has long depreciated. We are too lazy to learn dramaturgy, too lazy to understand real problems, we grab onto the easiest, most obvious and stupid way to attract the viewer. Most often, this is either a scandal, or frank nonsense, or horror stories: “GMO gives rise to mutants”, “Hyperborea is an ancient super -cyvivation of Russians”, “The effect of torsion fields brings prosperity and sexual potency”, “Raw food - the path to nirvana”. We usually justify the appearance of such stories on the air by the fact that “people are interested”, “the viewer wants a miracle”, “there is such a point of view, and it has the right to exist”, “no one knows how it really was.” But we all know that this is just our laziness, stupidity or non -education. This is our shame.
We, the TVs of thirty-horses of years by clan, grew up in the Kashpirovsky and MMM era, we know that both are bad, but we believe that this is permissible. This is wrong! This is vile lies and nonsense! Enough to justify yourself! We behave like monkeys, which fell into our hands with a terrible weapon! Television broadcast is the main source of information for most Russians. And we flooded him with information diarrhea! We, like small children, do not want to take responsibility. Each of us knows that it was we who put the brain to our compatriots. We remove, write, mount nonsense and console ourselves, giggling: “Well, this is an obvious entertaining nonsense, who will believe in it?!”, And we know that they will believe, we know that it is the nonsense that we carry, and not the information from the textbooks, people perceive for the pure coin - “this is said according to the case”. This is our shame.
We gave rise to the multibillion -dollar industry of astrologers, mediums, psychics, energy therapists, folk healers and other charlatans. Of course, we can justify ourselves by the fact that they have always existed, but, having put these criminals into the federal air, we turned their vile business into a gold bottom. Why did we do it? Because it is "cool" and these characters "always give a good share." Laughing, got a good rating figure? And now let's admit that, having given them the air, we have become guilty of the deaths of children with congenital heart defect, whose parents, instead of going to the hospital and doing a simple, routine operation, spent precious time from the grandmother of Aglafi. Do you think I am overclocking the stick? Take synchron from Leo Bokeria, he will correct your brain. And this is our shame.
We were all taught at the journalism fact that we need to check the sources of information and let us speak out to different sides. When we call the Privat-Academician of the Academy of Ecumenical Sciences on the air of the Academy of Ecumenias, we are painting him with a professor at Moscow State University and the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, we really pretend that this is an honest discussion and both of them need to speak equally?! We really do not see the difference between these two academicians? At the same time, we ask idiotic questions with a catch to the professor and, not allowing him to answer, in the final installation of the program we leave more time a freak-ufolog, because he “tells more fun and more interestingly”. So we see our professional duty of a journalist?! This is our shame.
We came up with some kind of delusional dogmas: any smart thought should fit in 20 seconds-everything that is more, you need to cut or throw it out! Why? Where did we get it from?! No one can say! But according to this logic, Zadornov will rather be aired, who in 20 seconds will have time to tell another stupid joke than Professor Zaliznyak, who in two minutes can describe the overall development scheme of the Russian language. We do not need a smart person in the frame who can speak fifteen minutes without hesitation, we are more interesting than the showman who will quickly show the ass on which the formula for accelerating free fall is drawn - both fun and cognitively - ideal! This is our shame.
Our work is to convey important information to people! The journalist is not included in the duties of floggus, tell bikes, retell long -refuted theories and fill a person with information garbage! Our work is to collect a large array of information, process it, simplify it, without losing meaning, visualize and imprison. We do not worry about this, we don’t think how to make important, useful information is more accessible, we take on the air what is easier to throw there! Fun, fervently - super! This is our shame.
Let's not complain about officials, corruption, stupid spectators, “scoop”, tell that “there are others on BBC budgets,” but in our country they can’t producing. Let's start with ourselves and admit that, judging by the television broadcast, we all do our job very badly! This is our shame!
Any television officer will say that his life is his work - without days off, lunches and sleep. So let's not turn our life into a pile of slop! Let's subscribe to these words and start shooting what we then want to proudly show our children!
