The Crimean prisoner Gennady Afanasyev, sentenced to seven years of strict regime, is transferred to one of the Komi colonies. This was announced on Twitter by the lawyer of the political prisoner Alexander Popkov with reference to the PMC of the Rostov Region.
To which colony they sent Afanasyev, is not specified. According to the UFSIN website, in the region, two colonies of a maximum security regime for the first time are operated in the region. This is IK-25 in Syktyvkar and IK-51 in the city of Emva, 130 kilometers north of the capital of the region. In addition, in the city of Pechora in the northeast of the region, a little south of the polar circle, the IK-49 strict regime for former court officers and law enforcement agencies operates. Since Afanasyev worked for some time in the prosecutor's office of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Simferopol, it cannot be ruled out that he was sent to this colony.
Afanasyev is 24 years old. He was abducted in Simferopol on May 9, 2014 and was tortured, as a result of which he testified to both himself and the film director Oleg Sentsov and the left activist Alexander Kolchenko, directly calling Sentsov the organizer of sabotage, invalidated by Crimean prisoners. In addition, Afanasyev did not want to use the services of independent lawyers, and also refused Ukrainian citizenship and received Russian.
The political prisoner made a deal with the prosecutor’s office, and the materials in his regard were allocated into a separate production. On December 17, 2014, the Moscow City Court, having examined the Afanasyev case in a special order, sentenced him to him. The appeal was not reported to the convicted appeal.
On July 31, in accordance with the terms of the pre-trial agreement, Afanasyev was supposed to perform in the North Caucasian District Military Court at the Sentsov and Kolchenko process. The security forces explained that he should refuse to testify under Article 51 of the Russian Constitution so that the lawyers of the defendants could not ask him questions. In this way, on July 30, another Crimean prisoner entered into a deal with the prosecutor’s office - Alexei Chirniy.
However, having come to court, Afanasyev suddenly abandoned his testimony , explaining that he had given them under torture.
After that, he turned to the services of a lawyer Popkov and announced his intention to seek a revision of his business. As the lawyer said, Afanasyev does not deny that he performed some unlawful actions, but does not agree with their qualifications under the article on terrorism. In addition, he recognized the participation in the arson of the headquarters of the “Russian community of Crimea” and “United Russia” committed in Simferopol, respectively, respectively, on April 14 and 18, 2014, but said that he knew nothing about the plans of the explosion of the monument to Lenin in the Crimean capital.
After the testimony of Sentsov and Kolchenko, Afanasyev in the Rostov pre -trial detention center was threatened by the FSB operatives, and on August 6, one of them attacked the political prisoner, inflicting a strong blow to him on the leg.
On August 12, Popkov said that Afanasyev was taken out of the Rostov pre-trial detention center-1 without notifying relatives and protection . The lawyer managed to establish the whereabouts of his principal, but he did not disclose this information, referring to the request of the mother of the convict, who was afraid "that he would be transferred again."
On August 22, the Moscow City Court refused Popkov to admit to the Politsek case. The lawyer was demanded first to subscribe to non -disclosure of secret data. However, the lawyer did not dare to give such a subscription, explaining that he did not know which of the case materials the stamp “secret” have and which are not. “If they put a stamp that all the information is secret, then I can neither show journalists or some experts or share it with colleagues,” Popkov explained. “Any contact with a foreign journalist, and I am a defendant in the case of treason.”
Sentsov and Kolchenko on August 25 were sentenced to 20 and 10 years of strict regime, respectively .
