The alleged organizer of the attack on Kashin Gorbunov left the pre-trial detention center

The manager of the Leninets plant, Alexander Gorbunov, who allegedly organized the attack on journalist Oleg Kashin, has been released from pre-trial detention center-5 in St. Petersburg, TASS reports .

Gorbunov came out accompanied by a lawyer, but both of them refused to make any comments.

Earlier, Kashin reported that investigator Sotskov was issuing a written undertaking not to leave Gorbunov, despite the fact that on September 9, the court in St. Petersburg refused to grant the investigation’s request to change the preventive measure for Gorbunov from detention to house arrest. The day after the meeting, it was confirmed that the senior investigator for especially important cases of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee, Alexei Serdyukov, was removed from all cases related to Gorbunov, in particular from the case of illegal possession of weapons against the plant manager, for which he was in custody. Now the case is headed by Vadim Sotskov, investigator for especially important cases of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee. Kashin’s defense believes that this is a signal that the case of the attempt on the journalist’s life will be “let go.”
