SBU reported on preventing the murder of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine announced that the murder of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov was prevented. In this case, the head of the Slobozhanshchina battalion was detained in Kharkov. According to the SBU, the group was preparing other murders.

Battalion "Slobozhanshchina" is headed by Andrey Yangolenko. about his detention shortly before the official press release . reported Kharkiv media

• The battalion "Slobozhanshchina" was created in April 2014 from volunteers and transferred to the subordination of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The unit's employees served in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, where they fought against pro-Russian separatists. Andriy Yangolenko was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine" in August 2014.
• In October 2014, the battalion officers demanded an investigation into the actions of the battalion command, which they accused of embezzling the help received from volunteers. On October 24, Andrei Yangolenko was charged with abuse of power and removed from command of the battalion (Mikhail Katana became acting commander).
• On March 6, 2015, there was an assassination attempt on Andrey Yangolenko. His car was blown up . Yangolenko himself received moderate injuries, his wife Inna was more seriously injured.
