Nabokov in San Jose will combine scout work with coaching

The 2008 world champion, as part of the Russian Hockey team , was appointed by the goalkeeper’s development coach and scout of the San Jose Sharks club, according to the NHL official website .

"The career of Nabokova speaks for himself. He is one of the most beloved players who have ever played for our club. He will be a great assistant for our young goalkeepers," said Dug Wilson, general manager of San Jose.

Nabokov, who announced the end of his career in February , made his debut in the NHL in 2000 just as part of Sharks, who chose him in the 1994 draft under the total 219th number.

Subsequently, a 39-year-old native of Ust-Kamenogorsk played for New York Ilanders and Tampa Bay, with whom he signed a one-year contract last summer. In Russia, the goalkeeper played for the Moscow Dynamo, Magnitogorsk Metallurg and St. Petersburg SKA.

In 2001, Nabokov became the owner of Colder Trophy - a prize to the best newcomer of the season. The Russian goalkeeper twice participated in the match of all NHL stars.
