In Tatarstan, a student programmer with his brother made a bomb and threatened to blow up a shopping center, demanding 70 thousand dollars

The police of Tatarstan arrested a 21-year-old programmer and his relative, who are suspected of extortion and telephone terrorism. Young people made a home -made explosive device (IOA) and several times reported the mining of the shopping complex. With the help of threats, they hoped to get 70 thousand dollars as "compensation".

Criminal punishment faces a resident of Naberezhnye Chelny, who is studying at a Kazan university, as well as his cousin - a trading representative of one of the companies in Naberezhnye Chelny. After the detention, young people confessed the crime, the official website of the Republican Ministry of Internal Affairs reports. The police are also trying to find out if the detainees had accomplices.

The investigation began after from August 10, 2015, phone calls about allegedly embedded explosive devices in the shopping center "Trade Quarter" began to receive the Naberezhnye Chelny. "Each time a robotic female voice repeated the phrase" A bomb is laid in the shopping center, "the press release says.

After each such message, the police evacuated visitors and personnel of the shopping center, set up a cordon, sappers and dog handlers with service dogs examined the premises. However, in all cases, the messages turned out to be false.

On August 12, an anonymous letter was received at the electronic postal addresses of the administration of the shopping center demanding to transfer 70 thousand US dollars through the online services in exchange for stopping calls about the laid bomb.

“Soon, the attackers from words moved to actions,” the police added. “On September 8, employees of the security of the shopping complex discovered a package with a home -made explosive device near the building.”

Again, police officers, as well as employees of all emergency services, went to the scene. Personnel and visitors were evacuated from the building.

As established by the employees of the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan, the detected device was a non-wrestled controlled explosive device assembled based on a cell phone. His weight in TNT equivalent amounted to about two kilograms. This was enough to shit half the "trade quarter" with the ground, explained to the "Chelny news" in the local unit of the Ministry of Emergencies.

A further study of the explosive device in which the FSB police and employees participated, allowed the identities of the suspects.

After the detention, the brothers explained that in the period from August 10 to 14, they made five anonymous calls about false facts of mining of the shopping center, wanting to cause public resonance with their actions. They also admitted to send an anonymous email demanding a payment of 70 thousand dollars.

“One of the detainees, being a professional programmer, used Internet resources that provide complete anonymity,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized. “Having made an explosive device, the suspect placed it next to the transformer booth near the shopping center.”

During the search at the place of registration of the detainee, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan seized a large number of batteries, crossed out tape, various microcircuits and radio components, as well as formulas for converting drugs into narcotic.

In relation to an enterprising student and his brother, criminal cases have been instituted under Part 3 of Art. 163 ("extortion"), part 1 of Art. 207 ("knowingly false message about the act of terrorism"), part 1 of Art. 223.1 ("illegal production of explosives") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
