In the Moscow region, six more cities will receive the status of historical settlements of regional significance. This is Volokolamsk, Zvenigorod, Klin, Sergiev Posad, Noginsk and Serpukhov.
According to Roman Vasiliev, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Moscow Region, last year, a project of the subject and security borders of the territory of Mozhaisk was developed, documentation is being prepared for it for approval by the Moscow Region by the Government. “This year we have work in six historical settlements: these are Volokolamsk, Zvenigorod, Klin, Sergiev Posad, Noginsk and Serpukhov,” Vasiliev said at a meeting of the board of the regional Ministry of Culture.
According to Interfax , in 2016 it is planned to provide similar work on seven historical settlements of the Moscow Region.
The deputy minister clarified that the real boundaries of the municipality and the boundaries of the historical settlement do not coincide, since different criteria affect their definition.
In total, there are 22 historical settlements in the region: 20 - regional and two - federal: Kolomna and Zaraysk. By the way, today, at a meeting of the board of the regional Ministry of Culture, it was proposed to include Zaraisk Kremlin in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The relevant proposal has already been sent to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
So far, there is only one UNESCO World Heritage Site in the region, Trinity -Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad.
Zaraisk Kremlin is considered a monument of architecture of the mid -16th century. It was built by decree of the prince of Moscow Vasily III. The Kremlin has seven powerful towers, three of which with a gate, and occupies an area of 134 by 190 meters. Its territory is decorated with two stone cathedrals - Nikolsky and John -Baptist. The first was built in 1681, the second was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
In 2013, Zaraisk Kremlin divided the first place with the Kolomensky Kremlin in the competition "Symbol of the Moscow Region" following the results of the Internet voting on the information portal "Culture of the Moscow Region".
