Earlier, Voinov was sentenced to 90 days of imprisonment on charges of domestic violence, and after serving his punishment, migration authorities took up his case. In October 2014, the glory of Voinov (this is what he is called in North America) was detained by the police after his wife Marta Varlamova turned to the hospital with injuries. Varlamova claimed that this was an accident, and tried to do everything so that her husband was not attracted to responsibility, but according to the US law, such crimes are investigated regardless of whether the victim wanted this or not. The evidence of the incident was quite significant for the unlimited removal of the hockey player from games; He was also forbidden to train with the team. Initially, the hockey player denied his guilt, but then agreed not to dispute the accusation. In the summer of 2015, he was sentenced to 90 days of prison, wars for good behavior achieved his release after 45 days.

Vyacheslav Voinov is one of the most successful Russian defenders of our time. The Chelyabinets Wojanov long and stubbornly made his way to the NHL through the Los Angeles farm club. They always talked about Voinov as the years of a hardworking hockey player, who knows how to achieve his own. In fact, by the age of 25 he had a key role in the defense of one of the strongest NHL clubs and two Stanley Cups, as well as the experience of speaking at the Olympic Games and a six -year contract, according to which he was supposed to receive more than four million dollars a year. At the world championships for the adult national wars team, he never played because of employment in the NHL, but he is always a welcome guest in the top-level of the Russian national team, not rich in defenders of the Russian national team.

The accusation of domestic violence is the strongest blow to the reputation of Voinov. Voinov did not want to plead guilty. In December 2014, when the first preliminary meeting in the Voynov case took place, the hockey player did not admit his guilt. His defense argued the need to remove the accusations by the fact that Martha Varlamov has no complaints against him, did not fear him and still lives with his husband. After the trial, Voinov made a deal with the investigation and agreed on a less serious qualification of the crime. In July 2015, at a court session, he said that he was not going to challenge the charges, recognizes his responsibility for the beating of his wife and agrees with the 90-day sentence.

Voinov is not the first Russian hockey player suspected of domestic violence. In the fall of 2013, one of the best goalkeepers of the NHL Semyon Varlamov was detained, who was accused of beating his girlfriend Evgeny Vavrinyuk. Unlike the situation with Voinov, the Varlamov case was very doubtful - Vavrinyuk began to tell right and to the left to talk about the cruelty of the hockey player, but had no evidence. The same opinion was in the leadership of the NHL, who decided not to take any measures for the hockey player. Then the prosecutor's office also refused the accusations, not finding the words of Vavrinyuk confirmation. Varlamov with a girl broke up and continues to successfully play the NHL.

In Russia, reputation means nothing. Wojing career in the United States is most likely completed, but in Russia they are waiting for him. The intention to sign the contract by the defender was already announced by his native Chelyabinsk “Tractor” for Voinov, who owns the rights to Voinov. Moreover, the two richest clubs of the Continental Hockey League, CSKA and the current owner of the Gagarin SKA Cup have already announced interest in the hockey player. In Russia, many KHL players and officials supported him, some even talked about the allegedly biased attitude towards Russians in the United States.
